Design Delivery Manager

The Design Delivery Manager will be responsible for leading, coordinating, and delivering the design aspects of electrical infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory, technical, and safety standards at
all stages of the design lifecycle. This leadership position bridges the gap between Qair and DNOs expectations, design consultants, project teams, and delivery partners, with a particular focus on high - voltage systems.
Main Tasks
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the delivery and review of design packages, ensuring technical assurance and compliance with DNOs, TOs, NESO and project-specific requirements.
- Serve as the main technical authority for electrical engineering issues and interface management between NESO, DNOs, and design/delivery teams.
- Oversee design submissions approval, technical documentation, and quality assurance processes.
- Facilitate collaboration among multidisciplinary teams and between internal and external stakeholders.
- Drive compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
- Proactively manage risks, change, interfaces, and ensure design solutions are buildable, operable, and maintainable.
- Support project delivery teams in programme development, performance monitoring, and resolution of technical issues.
Qualifications & Training:
- Degree, HND/HNC, or equivalent in Electrical or Civil Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field.
- Significant experience in Extra High Voltage (EHV) systems, grid connections, and working with DNOs or Transmission Operators.
- Familiarity with design standards (e.g., Grid Code, NGTS, G99/G100), protection and control systems, and industry-specific compliance requirements.
Skills Required
Skills, Competencies and Experience:
- Minium three years of experience
- Strong leadership, communication, and collaborative skills, with proven experience managing design delivery on complex, multi-site projects.
- Good organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Awareness of health, safety, and environmental requirements in the energy sector.
