Wind energy

Leasing your land for wind energy allows your land to stay productive whilst generating power and bringing you extra income.

Key Facts & Benefits

  • Wind turbines convert wind into energy which is then transferred to the electricity grid.
  • We offer onshore wind farm developments, requiring a minimum of 120 acres.
  • You will receive a guaranteed payment per megawatt installed, per year, CPI linked.
  • Farming activities can still continue while turbines are operational – minimal land taken out of use. Diversify your land and income without losing out on agricultural opportunities.
  • All costs of planning, construction, maintenance and decommission are covered by Qair – no investment from the landowner.
  • A lease term of up to 40 years guarantees you financial security with quarterly payments.
  • Benefit your community as well as the environment – community grants and beneficial projects are available within the area the project is located, with local job opportunities likely to be available during construction and operation.
  • Each site incorporates biodiversity net gain – Wherever possible, we will enhance wildlife attracting areas and plant hedgerows, wildflower meadows or use other measures to ensure that nature is not disturbed or affected by the development and provide protected areas for these to thrive.
  • Wind power reduces our reliance on outdated fossil fuels, lowering our carbon emissions and helping to make a real difference to climate change.
  • Our projects involve a minimum of 3 wind turbines. Each turbine produces 6.6 MW of electricity annually, making each scheme a minimum of 18 MW (subject to change)
  • The planning process involves careful consideration of the local environment, wildlife habitats, ground conditions, the local community and residential areas, archaeology, heritage and more.
  • The bigger picture – an increase in renewable energy production will mean increased diversity and competition in the wholesale energy market – and as in any market, more competition means lower prices.
